DESCRIPTION: The first urban wildlife refuge in the southwest, Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge is located south of Albuquerque at 7851 2nd Street SW, on 570 acres adjacent to the Rio Grande. The refuge was established in 2012 by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service with support from the grassroots efforts of conservation-minded volunteers. This project is the recipient of the 2023 Harnar Award, and 2021 NAIOP Award of Excellence. The project also achieved a LEED Silver certification.
