VERY GRAND OPENING OF THE MOENKOPI LEGACY INN & SUITES
The long-awaited grand opening celebration of the Moenkopi Legacy Inn & Suites truly was grand. Traditional dancing, food and music, greeted members of the Hopi Tribe and guests from the nearby Navajo Nation on April 27 for the event. Bill Lemon, president of BRYCON Construction, which built the 100-room hotel, presented Daniel Honahni with a ceremonial oversized check to help defray the costs of the grand opening. Honahni is the president of the nonprofit Moenkopi Developers Corporation, which built the hotel to benefit the Hopi Tribe. The hotel is the first economic development project in the Upper Village of Moenkopi built in the last 50 years.
