LEMON FAMILY ENDOWS A LECTURESHIP SERIES AT UNM

At a lecture and ceremony at the Centennial Engineering Center at the University of New Mexico, BRYCON’s president, Bill Lemon, surprised his father and BRYCON’s founder, Bryant W. Lemon Sr., with an announcement of an endowed lecture series in Bryant’s name at the School of Engineering and Construction Management. The endowment will fund an annual, on-going professional lecture series in the name of Bryant W. Lemon Sr.

“This endowment to the University of New Mexico’s Department of Civil Engineering and Contstruction is created to fosters Bryant’s core belief that higher education is the key to individual growth and to the long-term betterment of the construction industry,” said Bill Lemon in announcing the fund.

The first lecture featured Georia Tech professor and author Charles Eastman, who spoke on Building Information Modeling in Design and Construction. Eastman is the author of “BIM Handbook: A Guide to Building Information Modeling for Owners, Managers, Designers, Engineers and Contractors.” Eastman spoke to a full auditorium of engineering and architecture students, construction management students and professional contractors, architects and engineers. Also present were several members of the Lemon family, including Peggy S. Lemon, Bryant’s wife; and two of Bryant’s daughters, Christine Schmidt of California; and Karen Gebhardt of Corrales. Karen was joined by her husband, Fred Gebhardt, and their son, Will Gebhardt.
