BRYCON WINS “OUTSTANDING BUSINESS/CORPORATION IN PHILANTHROPY” AWARD

During a moving banquet and awards ceremony on Nov. 18, BRYCON Construction was presented with the “Outstanding Business/Corporation in Philanthropy” award from the New Mexico chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. More than 600 people from around New Mexico attended the event at the Embassy Suites hotel in Albuquerque where businesses, individuals and nonprofit organizations were honored for their committment to their communities.  BRYCON was nominated for the prestigious award by Pamela Hurd-Knief of the College of Engineering at the University of New Mexico. She nominated the company and president Bill Lemon for the award for the leadership the company has shown in philanthropy since 2008. In particular, she cited the “20 good deeds for 20 great years” service campaign the company undertook as part of its 20th anniversary in 2010, and for funding the Bryant W. Lemon Sr. Endowment at the University of New Mexico. In addition, she noted that the company has been a Corporate Cornerstone Partner with the United Way of Central New Mexico, and has annually donated $25,000 to local charities. Bill Lemon accepted the award on behalf of the company. Representatives of several of the nonprofits that BRYCON has supported through the years joined Bill at the awards banquet, including Dina Ma’ayan and Susannah Burke of PB&J Family Services, Rick Iannucci and Nancy DeSantis of Horses for Heroes/ Cowboy Up, and Art Salazar who runs Operation Outreach for the New Mexico Department of Health.  Salazar later wrote “it was an honor to sit alongside giving individuals such as yourselves.” BRYCON is humbled by the honor.
